Favourite OP/ED of Winter 09/10

Decided to take a break from Vocaloid Weekly, since I don’t get much of an impression that people are interested, and I can’t see myself committing to a Vocaloid post every Tues for the next few months. This gives me time to create a post on my favourite OP/ED of this season. I’ll try to be impartial and not repeat 「光の旋律」 and 「時の向こう 幻の空」 in every available slot.

Top 3 OP

3.To Aru Kagaku no Railgun: 「LEVEL5 -judgelight-」 by fripSide

Awesome song with awesome biribiri shots and awesome action scenes to go with it.

2. Durarara!!: 「裏切りの夕焼け」 by Theatre Brook

Video is apparently flipped to avoid copyright, but the song is as awesome and catchy as ever, though I must say the slick animation also contributes to my love.

1. So.Ra.No.Wo.To: 「光の旋律」 by Kalafina

I know this will be my favourite song this season the first moment I set my ears on it. Beautiful melody, composed by Kajiura Yuki, sang by Kalafina. I can find no faults (yes, I might be biased here, I don’t care).

Top 3 ED

3. Letter Bee: 「光の記憶」 by Angelo

Not much to say. Lovely song. Too bad the anime got boring.

2. Baka to Test to Shōkanjū: 「Baka Go Home」 by milktub and BakaTest All Stars

OP & ED in the same video and flipped to avoid copyright. Both OP and ED songs are good, but there are better OPs, so only the ED made it to my charts. The songs are quite cute when taken with the context from the anime as well.

1. Durarara!!: 「Trust Me」 by 松下優也

Once again flipped to avoid copyright. Awesome song showing the awesome cast of an awesome anime.

3 Guilty Pleasures

(in order of amount of guilt I feel when watching, not in order of how good the songs are)

3. To Aru Kagaku no Railgun ED: 「REAL FORCE」 by ELISA

Oh my… look at the legs… the fanservice-y shots…… cool scenes… mmm…

2. So.Ra.No.Wo.To ED: 「Girls, Be Ambitious」

Sang by Tomatsu Haruka, who is the cutest girl to ever appear on a PV with totally “squeeeeeeeeee” and “kyaaaaaaaaaa” and “OMG SO CUUUUUTE!!!!” poses, or in magazines with a totally moe meganekko-look. And her legs! Wow! CD w/ DVD to be out on 27 Jan, looking forward to the PV!

1. Seikon no Qwaser ED: 「Passionate Squall」

A “masterpiece” by Fujimura Ayumi, Toyosaki Aki, Chihara Minori, Hikasa Youko and Hirano Aya (no, there is no name here). Just the names of the singers are enough to make me happy, no matter how the song/anime is like.

Few ED songs this season catch my attention (most of them being my guilty pleasures), and there is a number of anime with good OPs, like Ookami Kakushi and Nodame Cantabile: Finale, which didn’t manage to make it to the list cuz I love those above-mentioned more. I’m tweaking the classifications here as well, by placing To Aru Kagaku no Railgun and Letter Bee on the list. Technically they belong to Fall 09, but since they have a new OP/ED this season, I figured they could count, right?
