I think this season is the first time I’ve picked up so many shows to watch (even though I recall that I hadn’t planned to because of exams). Nevertheless, I think I’m currently following 8 shows which probably explains why I didn’t do so well in my mock examinations last week. Hm.
11eyes
(Watched 03 of 12)
So apparently this was adapted from an eroge? It certainly doesn’t seem like it considering how it’s action based. There is an alternative world where everything is red and there’s a black moon in which they are dragged into and seemingly have to fight these strange, ominous black knights. Satsuki Kakeru is voiced by Ono Daisuke (Koizumi Itsuki, Ushiromiya Battler) and that kind of annoyed me – mainly because I keep thinking I’m hearing Battler or Koizumi all the time. The action in the show so far has been decent, but what I really want to know is what is the significance of Kukuri – Kakeru’s older sister. What was that weird suicide scene in the first episode and why does he keep seeing her?
Kampfer
(Watched 04 of 12)
I really only watched this because I happened to see someone on a forum with a Kampfer theme. The storyline sounded weird: A guy turns into a girl for some random fight. Uhh… four episodes in and where did all the fighting go? It seems like the fighting has become irrelevant and it’s all just dealing with his/her “problems” as a girl, fanservice and random sexual innuendos.
Kobato.
(Watched 03 of 24)
Kobato is a silly girl, lacking common sense, who’s out on a mission to mend people’s broken hearts and in return will be able to fulfil her wish. Apparently the original material – the manga done by CLAMP – is very popular and I only realised upon watching this that I actually own some of it. It certainly is quite a nice anime and although Kobato’s silliness is incomparable, it does make it quite funny. And Ioryogi is awesome.
Seitokai no Ichizon
(Watched 03 of 13)
The parody and references show. Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu, Higurashi no Naku Koro ni, Dragonball Z, Death Note and Lucky Star are just some of other anime that have already referred to in the first three episodes. It’s not exactly generic or original, but it does seem to try to base its appeal on the comedy behind mainly the student council president: Sakurano Kurimu. Everything so far has occurred in that one room and some scenes have been funny but shooting down your own show in episode 1 doesn’t seem like a good start?
—————————————————————–
This season’s anime does seem a bit better than a few of the past seasons to me – perhaps it’s because there’s Shana and Railgun for me to watch? I’ll probably drop Kampfer if nothing more interesting happens, that time could be better spent on other things.
