Fangirl scream in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1~
Gentosha Comics has announced on its website that a theatrical anime film adaptation of Hidekaz Himaruya’s Hetalia – Axis Powers manga has been green-lit for 2010. More details will be provided in the November issue of Monthly Comic Birz magazine on September 30 and on the anime’s official website, Hetalia.com. The November issue will also have a special feature to mark the green-lighting of the film.

Words fail me at the awesomeness of this. To think only last January, Hetalia was deemed to concertverical for TV and now it’s actually getting its own feature film. Then again Deen loves to milk its franchises. I wonder if they’re just planning on taking random pieces of episodes and making it into a complete film ala the Macross Frontier movie coming out, or if they’re planning on using longer strips we haven’t seen animated (aka the valentine’s day strip, the Austrian War of Succession, Battle for America etc.) and attempt to try and tie them together.
At least this should cure some of the withdrawal symptoms, I’m probably going to get once the anime ends in January. I really hope this isn’t a fake out (ANN is well known for it), or that it doesn’t get shut down. In anycase I’m on fangirl cloud nine right now.
